A MOVE IS AFOOT...BACK TO THE CORE

A Letter From Our Founders And Dates For Your Calendar

Hello Brick Farm Community -

We have been serving you with farm-to-table products since May 2013. We sincerely thank you for your support for just over that decade. It has been a rewarding journey for us, and we hope you feel the same way.  The journey now continues!

From the beginning, our goal has been to deliver the most delicious and nutritious local food in the most sustainable way possible, starting with sales right off Double Brook Farm. Our closed-loop model is unique in this country, yielding premium proteins that are raised humanely, reduce dependency on fossil fuels and are just plain delicious. And our farm partners, local producers, and purveyors have bounties to celebrate.

Like so many other businesses, we have faced some real headwind, especially through the closure of the bridge in Hopewell, the pandemic, and severe labor shortages.

Through it, we have redoubled our efforts to get it right and spent countless hours to create a model that would support itself.  We have tried to consolidate our labor resources (and lower waste) by moving departments around the Market’s building.  We brought in an established local business (Ottoburger) to improve the economics of our café and to extend our dining hours. The entire process has been a genuine effort by all of us to maintain the highest degree of customer experience while being honest about our values and the economic health of our business.

While we have enjoyed and been privileged to pour you fresh coffee, and make you a smoothie, shake, taco or a sandwich over the years, our lives and business were impacted by continuous subsidy of these services. And having all the extras such as mustards, oils, spices, groceries, supplies and more, had us competing with Amazon and supermarkets - which is not what we’ve ever been about. Ultimately, we found ourselves unable to invest our time and financial resources into the core reason why we started this whole thing in the first place: farming and bringing you what we make in the most direct, fair, affordable way.

SO, WHAT’S THE PLAN MOVING FORWARD? SOME FAQs

We are going back to our core.  We are eliminating the distractions. We will bring you what we grow, raise, and make:  the food you want from the farmer you know.

We will be delivering our Double Brook Farm meats and house-made products, plus those of a select roster of Hopewell farms, on a smaller footprint, one that is appropriate for the model and economics of a direct farm-to-customer operation.

Our core products are available in our NEW ONLINE STORE which offers free local delivery and is live now. We are adding products to the store every day, so please be patient with us. Furthermore, starting in mid December, products that are contiguous to the Brick Farm Tavern and the farm it resides on will be available at 130 Hopewell-Rocky Hill Road.   As you know, we feature our pasture-raised bounty on the menus of the Tavern. Its farm shop features those items in an inviting space.

We will hold a ‘Q & A’ reception at Brick Farm Tavern on December 13 at 5:00PM. We will answer questions, talk about the business, and share complimentary food and drink! You can reserve for this event here and enter through the main entrance of the Tavern the day of.

What will happen in the former Market location at 65 East Broad?

Our last day for Café / Prepared Foods at 65 E. Broad St. will be Sunday, December 3rd 2023.

Our last day for groceries and farm products will be December 10th 2023.

The Market will be repurposed for an exciting new use connected to our organization.

We’re sure this will keep you informed as we re-fit the space and get it ready for the new business!

Where will I get my coffee, sandwiches …?

A mile away, Brick Farm Tavern will be open for lunch Tuesday - Friday, starting on December 12, 2023. This is where you can find your favorite baked goods, coffee, café favorites — now with the option of area’s best Bloody Mary, sustainable wines, Troon beer, craft cocktails and much more.

Importantly, we have great local businesses in the Borough that deserve your support in the borough: Boro Bean, The Peasant Grill, Aunt Chubby’s, Antimo’s, Tomatello’s, Nomad Pizza, Michael’s, and more. Please support them as you have supported us.

We look forward to seeing you, answering your questions, and continuing to bring you the food you want form the farmer you know. In the meantime, we are open at 65 East Broad Street until the afternoon of December 10. Please visit us, shop, eat and hang out.
